This summer, I had the privilege of joining the Community Foundation of Howard County (CFHC) as the new President & CEO. As I’ve transitioned into the role, I’ve spent a lot of time listening, learning, and connecting with the people who make our community thrive. These first months have also been a time of focusing inward—strengthening our internal systems and operations so we can better serve you and our community.
From my earliest days, it was clear that CFHC is powered by extraordinary generosity—by donors, community partners, nonprofits, business, and local government working every day to strengthen the heart of Howard County.
As we move through the fall, I’m inspired by how our community continues to come together, especially during challenging times. I believe deeply that philanthropy transforms people and communities, and while many of us don’t always see or hear about it, people right here in Howard County need support.
We know that some of our neighbors are struggling. A gift to the Howard County Community Relief Fund supports neighbors in times of crisis, pooling contributions to make the greatest impact where it’s needed most. All contributions made to this fund in November will be awarded to nonprofits providing hunger relief.
Nonprofits across Howard County provide essential services every day that improve the quality of life for everyone. I hope you will consider a year-end gift to nonprofit organizations in Howard County that work tirelessly every day to make the world a better place for all.
And as we look ahead, I hope you’ll join us at our Annual Dinner & Celebration of Philanthropy on December 9 at Turf Valley Resort for an evening to honor generosity and the people who make Howard County stronger every day.
