Annual Dinner & Celebration of Philanthropy Recap

Last week the Community Foundation of Howard County hosted its Annual Dinner & Celebration of Philanthropy event at the beautiful Turf Valley Resort. The sold-out event aimed to honor and recognize the incredible work done by various individuals and organizations in Howard County. It was a night filled with heartfelt speeches, inspiring stories, and a strong sense of community. It showcased the power of philanthropy and how it can make a lasting difference.

Highlights of the special evening were the announcement of the Philanthropist of the Year awards. This prestigious recognition is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the community through their philanthropic endeavors. This year’s recipients, Carlessia Hussein and Howard Hughes Holdings, truly exemplified the spirit of philanthropy.

Carlessia Hussein, a well-respected community leader, has been working tirelessly to improve the lives of those in need. Josephine Bangura earned the Amanda & Jill Dean Direct Service Professional Award for her work at The Arc of Howard County. Rashel Taylor took home the foundation’s Leadership Council Award for her service on the board of the Columbia Housing Center. A Home of Our Own Howard, Inc. was recognized for its incredible work with the Casey & Pebble Willis “Making a Difference” Award.
