Annual Dinner & Celebration of Philanthropy Set for December 10

The Community Foundation of Howard County’s Annual Dinner & Celebration of Philanthropy will take place on Tuesday, December 10 at the Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City. Please join us as we gather for a joyous evening of food, fellowship and philanthropy. (This event is SOLD OUT. Thank you sponsors and those who purchased tickets!)

The evening starts with a delightful cocktail reception at 6 p.m., followed by a delicious seated dinner and program highlighted by the presentation of the foundation’s Philanthropist of the Year.

We’re delighted to honor Greg and Roberta Kahlert and The Kahlert Foundation as this year’s recipients. The Kahlert Foundation has been a remarkable benefactor to nonprofits across central Maryland, especially in the areas of health care, education, youth programs, veterans’ causes and human services. The Kahlert Foundation has supported institutions and organizations big and small for decades, and has made a tangible impact in the lives of so many Howard County residents.

In addition, the foundation will highlight the rich history and accomplishments of HoCoPoLitSo, a treasured arts nonprofit and endowed agency fund at CFHoCo, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. As part of its 50th celebration, HoCoPoLitSo has leveraged the anniversary to strategically build its endowment (held at CFHoCo). In recognition of this endowment-growing effort, the society will be the first recipient of a new award from the Community Foundation named in honor of Jean Moon. Long-time Columbia resident Moon – a former chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, a co-founder of the Women’s Giving Circle of Howard County and a co-founder of HoCoPoLitSo (among many other roles) – has been a champion for charitable giving, strategic planned giving and endowments for decades.

The Annual Dinner & Celebration of Philanthropy is also an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the terrific work of nonprofits and volunteers. The foundation will present the Leadership Council Award to an up and coming nonprofit leader, the Casey & Pebble Willis “Making a Difference” Award, spotlighting a nonprofit doing great work in our community, along with the Amanda and Jill Dean Direct Support Professional Award.

Please consider a sponsorship to provide exposure for your business and to help the foundation with its strategic mission to connect people, places and organizations to worthy causes across Howard County and beyond.
