Strengthening Nonprofits in Howard County

Nonprofits are essential to the health and vitality of our community, delivering critical services, strengthening social connections, and responding to needs where people live and work.

Community foundations play a unique role in supporting the nonprofit sector by connecting charitable resources, local knowledge, and trusted partnerships to help organizations thrive and respond to community needs.

At the Community Foundation of Howard County, we work alongside nonprofits, donors, and partners to strengthen programs, build organizational capacity, and support collaboration. Through grantmaking, convening, and shared learning, we help ensure that nonprofits have the tools, relationships, and resources they need to serve Howard County—today and for the long term.

How CFHC Supports Nonprofits

CFHC’s approach goes beyond funding alone. We support nonprofits by:

  • Investing charitable dollars where they can make the greatest impact
  • Connecting nonprofits with donors, professional advisors, and partners
  • Encouraging collaboration and shared solutions
  • Supporting capacity-building, leadership, and learning opportunities

By serving as a trusted partner and convener, CFHC helps strengthen the nonprofit ecosystem as a whole.

Powered by Donors & Community Partners

This work is made possible by the generosity of CFHC’s donors and community partners, whose philanthropy fuels nonprofit programs, strengthens organizational capacity, and supports collaboration across Howard County. Together, we turn generosity into lasting community impact.

Nonprofit Collaboration & Community Partnerships

Howard County recently renewed and expanded the NonProfit Collaborative, creating more shared, affordable space for nonprofits to collaborate, reduce overhead, and expand their reach. This proven model – supported by the Howard County Housing Commission and the Association of Community Services – strengthens the nonprofit sector and extends services to thousands of residents across our community.

CFHC is proud to support and amplify partnerships like these that strengthen nonprofit infrastructure and foster collaboration.
