Dan Flynn Joins CFHoCo Staff

The Community Foundation of Howard County, which raises, manages and distributes funds to support Howard County nonprofits, named Dan Flynn director of development, marketing and communications. Flynn brings more than 25 years of experience in business development, fundraising, marketing and communications.

Prior to joining the Community Foundation of Howard County, Flynn was director of business development and events for Inside Lacrosse, a media and events company, where he led brand development and new business and revenue growth.

Previously, Flynn served as assistant director of athletics for corporate sales, marketing and promotions for Towson University and director of marketing, promotions and community relations for the University of Pennsylvania. He directed Blue Jays Unlimited, the athletics annual fund for Johns Hopkins University, as well as communications for Shoremen Athletics at Washington College. He began his career as assistant director of athletic communications for Johns Hopkins University.

In addition, Flynn founded First League Consulting, a marketing and business consulting firm, last year. He also has taught marketing as an adjunct professor of sport marketing at Towson University.

Flynn earned both his MBA in management and bachelor’s degree in biology from Johns Hopkins University. He lives in Columbia, Maryland.

The Community Foundation of Howard County serves as a knowledgeable, trusted partner that forges connections between donors and nonprofit organizations to provide impactful investments in Howard County. The foundation has awarded more than $17 million in grants to organizations delivering human service, arts and cultural, educational and civic programs.
